Lisa Varner’s “I Don’t Bake Cookies from Scratch” Fresh Apple Cake

Lisa is our Sales Manager at North Central Florida Media, and she’s always a busy lady.  She told me that she doesn’t bake cookies from scratch (her husband, Chris, does), but she does have a delicious apple cake she turns to for the holidays.  She even gave me photos of the original recipe card she wrote out when she was a little girl.  When you’re over ALL those cookies, take a break and check out this yummy dessert!

4 cups of sliced apples

2 cups of sugar

2 beaten eggs

1 scant cup of oil

2 cups of sifted flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

1 cup of nuts or raisins

  1. Preheat over to 350.  Prepare a 13″x9″ baking pan.
  2. Combine all ingredients and bake 45-50 minutes.
