WEIRSDALE, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says they believe they know the identity of the remains found in a ditch on Highway 42 on Thursday. MCSO says based on the general area in which the human remains were found and evidence recovered at the scene, detectives believe the remains are those of 25-year-old Crystalyn Mobley. Mobley disappeared in October of 2022. Mobley’s family has been notified. However, the identity of the remains has not yet been conclusively confirmed.

ORIGINAL: The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is investigating human remains found in a ditch Thursday.
According to MCSO, citizens were on the side of the 12000 block of Highway 42 East changing a tire when they discovered the remains around 5:00 p.m.
Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the University of Florida’s Human Identification Lab to determine the cause and manner of death as well as identify the human remains.
