MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 2/27/2024, 4:45 a.m.: The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has shared photos of the types of cars involved in two unrelated, deadly hit-and-run cases in hopes of spurring tips that may lead them to the drivers.

The sheriff’s office says the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) needs your help gathering information about the crashes that happened within days of each other. The details of each accident are listed below. Here are photos of the types of cars involved in the wrecks. Troopers hope the photos will lead to information that helps their investigation. UPDATE, 2/20/2024, 12:03 p.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has released more information regarding Friday’s deadly hit-and-run wreck that killed a man on a bicycle.

FHP says they’ve been able to determine the make and model of the car that hit the cyclist based on evidence gathered at the scene.

They say they are looking for the driver of an older model Chevrolet Equinox SUV (2010 – 2015).  They say the vehicle will have noticeable front-end damage.

UPDATE, 2/19/2024, 10:56 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says it now has more information about the type of vehicle they are looking for in connection with a deadly hit-and-run from Sunday.

Troopers say they recovered vehicle parts from the scene on CR 25A that killed a pedestrian.

Investigators say they have determined the vehicle to be a 2007 – 2009 Acura MDX SUV, dark gray in color. They say there should be noticeable damage to the right front section.

ORIGINAL, 2/19/2024, 5:33 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating two unrelated fatal hit-and-run accidents in Marion County from over the weekend.

Friday Accident

The first deadly accident happened on County Road (CR) 314 and Northeast 68th Court.

Troopers investigated this case on Friday around 7:30 p.m.

They say a man was riding his bike westbound on CR 314 when a vehicle hit him and didn’t stop.

Investigators identified the cyclist as a 35-year-old man from Ocala.

Sunday Accident

Troopers are also investigating a deadly crash on County Road (CR) 25A, north of the intersection at Northwest 100th Place.

FHP says someone driving an SUV hit and killed a pedestrian who was on the shoulder of CR 25A around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Investigators say the right front side of the SUV hit the pedestrian and the driver didn’t stop.

Troopers identified the pedestrian as a 47-year-old man from Ocala.
