ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says two people died following a pursuit with law enforcement that ended in a crash in the Waldo area.

Here’s what we know

Troopers say the chase began early Saturday morning when the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance pursuing a Honda CRV stolen from Alachua County.

FHP says there appeared to be four people in the car and some appeared to be wearing ski masks.

Troopers say the vehicle exited U.S. 301 and began traveling westbound on State Road (SR) 24 in the Waldo area of Alachua County when a trooper intentionally bumped the Honda, causing it to decelerate.

FHP says the trooper then performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop car. FHP says the Honda rolled over before crashing into a cement pole.

Troopers say one person was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene.

Alachua County Fire Rescue transported the other occupants to an area hospital where another person was pronounced dead.

FHP said additional information would be released when available.
