LADY LAKE, FL (352today.com) – A burglar left empty-handed, but the Lady Lake Police Department (LLPD) says his attempt is still a crime and they hope you can help identify him.

Police released a security camera image on Tuesday of a man they say tried to break-in to the Best Buy by using a sledgehammer to create a hole through the wall of an adjacent business.

LLPD says the attempted burglary happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 21, at the Best Buy at 552 N U.S. Highway 27/441.

Investigators told 352today the man busted the lock on a door at the Party Shop store next door and then went to work on trying to break through the wall adjoining the two businesses.

When his attempt failed, police say the man left through the backdoor of the Party Shop.

Police hope the man’s clothing may help identify him. He’s wearing a white ball cap, grey hooded pull-over sweatshirt that says “Heavenly,” faded blue jeans and black or grey shoes. Detectives say he was wearing black/white heavy gloves and had a silver and black backpack which contained the hand tools he used in the burglary attempt.

“Both businesses sustained a monetary loss by virtue of the damage caused by the suspect during his attempt, however no merchandise was stolen in the incident,” said LLPD Detective Jim Dunagan.
