ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Jail employee was arrested for sexual battery Tuesday. Thirty-two-year-old Zachary Wilder didn’t have to go far to get booked.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified by the Alachua Police Department (APD) of an arrest warrant the police department obtained for an ACSO employee, Zachary Wilder.

According to a post on the police department’s Facebook page, they began an investigation after they were informed by a woman on Aug. 2 that Wilder sexually battered her.

The woman told police that she and Wilder had been friends since 2019. According to authorities, the attack allegedly happened at Wilder’s home. The woman says she had one alcoholic beverage. According to APD, Wilder consumed multiple drinks.

The woman says she fell asleep and Wilder then allegedly pinned her to the couch, not allowing her to escape and sexually battered her.

On Tuesday, members of the ACSO Warrants Unit went to the jail and arrested Wilder.

“The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards immediately responded to the Department of the Jail, where Wilder was served a Notice of Termination by OPS Investigators, which notified Wilder that he was no longer employed by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office,” said the sheriff’s office in a post on their Facebook page.

During his interview with detectives, they say Wilder admitted to sexually battering the woman.

He was booked into the jail on a $100,000 bond.
