OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A house fire in Ocala took the lives of two dogs and multiple reptiles.
Just after 3:00 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) crews were dispatched to a house fire in the 100 block of SE 81st St. in Ocala.
MCFR says units arrived in a little over three minutes to see half of the house engulfed in flames. Firefighters inspected the property and began directing incoming units.

The residents told MCFR crews that there were multiple dogs and reptiles trapped inside.
According to MCFR, multiple threats posed a safety risk to the firefighters, including downed power lines and exploding ammunition. Firefighters called the fire under control at 3:36 a.m.
The dogs and reptiles unfortunately died in the fire.
According to MCFR, the family has been displaced. The MCFR chaplain was on the scene to connect the residents with the American Red Cross.
The cause and origin of the fire remain unknown. No other injuries were reported.
