WORKWEEK WEATHER: Seek relief from the heat as temps inch toward triple digit territory

The National Weather Service says the potential for isolated afternoon storms increases through the week.

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Splash pads will be packed. Air conditioners will be in overdrive. Shade will be a premium. And, this week might be a good time to start a neighborhood popsicle stand.

Temps will be in the mid to upper 90s.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says the mercury will climb higher with each passing day this week and hit near triple digit heat index by the end of the week.

NWS meteorologists say the potential for isolated afternoon storms also increases.

Tonight: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Sunny, with a high near 94. East wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 69. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Wednesday: A slight chance of rain, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 11 a.m. Sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
