MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The two-day concert event known as Rock the Country gets underway Friday at noon in Reddick.

Since Thursday, the area near the concert venue has been seeing heavier traffic as concert-goers arrive with their RVs and campers.

The big country music festival descends on seven small towns this summer and attracts tens of thousands of people.

|WEATHER ALERT: Near record heat through Monday

The Marion County leg of the concert event is on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, at Majestic Oaks Ocala which is located at 17500 N US Highway 441.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office issued a community alert on Tuesday on its Facebook page so motorists not going to the two-day concert festival can avoid the area.

The superstar lineup includes Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Travis Tritt and Lynyrd Skynyrd to name a few.

“Due to the size of the event and the anticipated number of attendees, please prepare for a significant increase in traffic and delays in the area,” said the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in the Facebook post. “We urge drivers on the roadways this weekend to allow extra time for their commute, remain alert, and be cautious!”

The gates open at noon on both days and the headlining act doesn’t take the stage until after 9 p.m. on both nights. So, expect traffic to be snarled for at least 12 hours on Friday and Saturday.

Best bet: If you’re not going to the concert, avoid the area.
