SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, FL (352today.com) – A Silver Springs Shores mom is proud of her sons’ actions that led to the arrest of a man suspected of burglarizing multiple vehicles in their neighborhood but realizes the outcome could have been differently.

“Everyone on our street had been hit,” said Debbie Craig whose son installed security cameras around their home in response to a recent rash of burglaries.

Debbie says in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 9, the system alerted the family to suspicious activity around their home on Bahia Court Trace.

The surveillance video showed someone with a flashlight peering into their truck which was parked in the driveway.

She says her sons, 22-year-old Chet and 20-year-old Tyler, were up late playing X-Box with a friend, Chris Sherboneau, when an alert came up on Tyler’s phone.

The video shows the three young men come out of their homes and run after the person caught on camera casing their vehicles.

Debbie says her sons chased the man through the neighborhood, over fences and into the woods, eventually catching him.

“The boys are extremely athletic and I’m sure all the years of baseball, cross-country, wrestling, weightlifting and of course football paid off,” said Debbie who wasn’t surprised her sons sprang into action. “We have raised our sons to serve and protect not only our family but our community as well.”

The young men work with their dad who owns Chet Craig Plumbing.

“They are in the heat all day every day. Plumbing is not an easy thing to do while facing and enduring our Florida sun.”

The Marion County Sheriff Office says the Craig brothers detained the man until deputies arrived and arrested 21-year-old Jacques Brown.
