GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Before fireworks shot up, rain showered down on heads of holiday revelers at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville on Wednesday evening.
Wet weather kept some people from attending WUFT’s annual Fanfares & Fireworks holiday event at the bandshell at Flavet Field. While we don’t have an official attendance count, it appeared the crowd was smaller than years past.
The diehard donned ponchos and sought shelter under umbrellas to enjoy a variety of musical performances from bands including The Late Night Losers, Buko Boys and Madwoman.
Those who were brave enough to withstand the afternoon elements were rewarded by nightfall when the precipitation let up just in time to be replaced by fireworks raining down.
Did you attend the event? We’d love to see your photos and video. Show us how you’re celebrating the 4th of July holiday by posting photos here.
