The orchestra will perform its first concert of the season, “Mahler and the Breath of Life,” on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Reilly Arts Center in Ocala. Attendees will experience the premiere performance of Florida composer Paul Richards’s latest masterpiece, Breath of Life, accompanied by vocals from acclaimed baritone soloist Anthony Offerle and followed by a rendition of Mahler’s iconic Symphony No. 1.
“They say you can’t have it all. Well, this season might just disprove that!” said Maestro Matthew Wardell, Music Director and Conductor of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. “You have a superbly talented orchestra playing mind-blowingly exciting core repertoire from composers like Mahler and Tchaikovsky alongside new works by preeminent living composers like Stella Sung and Paul Richards.”
Wardell went on to emphasize the exciting musical diversity of the 2023-24 season.
“We have incredible soloists in clarinetist Jackie Glazier, pianist Andreas Klein and baritone Tony Offerle with some fantastic guests on the podium like Edward Leonard and one of our perennial favorites, Raymond Chobaz. We have holiday pops, some of the best film music and finally, two unforgettable choir concerts led by our choirmaster and Assistant Conductor, Joshua Mazur with the Ocala Symphony Chorus! Nothing is to be missed!”
Season subscribers can enjoy the orchestra’s full season of performances, along with perks like priority seating and free ticket exchanges, and can save up to 27 percent more than single ticket purchasers.
