HIGH SPRINGS, FL (352today.com) – It’s a case of the wrong place at the wrong time for an officer from the High Springs Police Department (HSPD).
The agency posted on Facebook that a tree fell on an occupied police vehicle, causing significant damage to the cruiser.
HSPD says the officer was on a down-tree service call when the accident happened Sunday evening as the outer bands from Debby were bringing high winds and heavy rain.
Police say the officer was not injured.
They add that third tree fell in the area but didn’t hit anything.
HSPD says officers are trained to park strategically, but there were too many trees in the area.
