WILLIAMSPORT, PA (352today.com) – It’s a storyline that those inspirational sports movies are made of.

A team from Lake Mary could become Florida’s first ever Little League World Series (LLWS) 2024 champions this weekend.

Back home in the Seminole County community which is about 90 minutes southeast of Ocala throngs of fans have been watching the games and cheering on the pre-teen boys.

The Lake Mary All-Stars are 5-1 in the double elimination tournament. On Thursday, they beat a squad from Henderson, Nevada, 6-3 to secure a spot in the 2024 LLWS United States championship.

Next up: Lake Mary takes on an undefeated team from Boerne, Texas, on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. It’s a rematch of the All-Star’s only loss in the tourney which is played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

If Lake Mary wins on Saturday, they’ll play on Sunday for the championship against either Taoyuan City, Chinese Taipei, or Barquisimeto, Venezuela.

If they lose again to Texas, they play Sunday in a consolation game for third place.
