ALACHUA COUNTY (352today.com) – Alachua County Public Schools announced Thursday the make-up days for Hurricane Idalia.
According to the school district, students will now spend two days in the classroom prior to their Christmas break. Those days are Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 22. These days do not affect students’ winter break still scheduled from Monday, December 25 through Friday, January 5.
Both days were specified as ‘flex days’ for this 2023-2024 school year. They were agreed upon by the School Board in February, according to ACPS.
“Flex days are built into the school year calendar in case the district has to make up days lost to severe weather or other emergencies. Alachua County Public Schools has been incorporating flex days into its school year calendars for several years,” said ACPS officials.
According to ACPS, the make-up days are required to meet the state’s requirements educational time.
