GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is investigating a deadly shooting at Cynthia Chestnut Park.
Deputies say they received a 911 call around 6:43 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, from a citizen reporting that they heard several gunshots from the parking lot of the Cynthia Chestnut Park which is located at 2315 SE 35th Street in Gainesville.
According to ACSO, the caller reported that a male victim appeared to be lying in the parking lot and that he was not moving.
Multiple patrol deputies responded. Once on scene, they say they found an adult man suffering from several gunshot wounds. They say deputies began lifesaving measures on the victim before the arrival of paramedics from Alachua County Fire and Rescue (ACFR).
The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to UF Health Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators also responded to the scene to begin collecting evidence, as well as canvassing the surrounding area for any potential witnesses or video evidence.
