MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports of a two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 37-year-old man from Citrus Springs.
FHP says the accident occurred around 4:10 a.m. on Thursday morning.
According to FHP, a sedan driven by an 87-year-old woman from Ocala traveled south in the left turn lane of SW 80 Ave., at its intersection with SW 80 St.
At the same time, a motorcycle driven by a 37-year-old man from Citrus Springs traveled north on SW 80 Ave.

FHP says the motorcycle was continuing through the intersection when the sedan turned left, a violation of the motorcycle’s right of way.
The motorcycle then struck the left front section of the sedan, throwing the driver and his motorcycle onto the northeast grass shoulder. The sedan came to rest obstructing the intersection.
Both drivers were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
According to FHP, the 37-year-old motorcycle driver was later pronounced dead at HCA Florida Hospital Ocala.
The 87-year-old driver of the sedan escaped with minor injuries.
According to the report from FHP, it is currently unknown if the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
