MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – SECO Energy has announced the launch of its 2025 Youth Scholarship Program, continuing its dedication to education and workforce development in local communities.

The program will award $36,000 in scholarships to twelve deserving high school seniors living within SECO Energy’s service area. Each recipient will receive $3,000 to help fund their higher education.

Acknowledging the labor shortages in the energy industry, SECO Energy aims to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SECO Energy CEO Curtis Wynn highlighted the program’s significance:
“As the energy industry evolves, SECO Energy and other utilities are committed to attracting and developing individuals who can thrive in a dynamic environment,” Wynn says. “The Youth Scholarship Program is a direct investment in local students’ education, equipping them for successful careers in the energy sector.”

Applications for the program are now available online at SECOEnergy.com and must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 28, 2025.

Eligibility and Criteria

Eligible applicants must graduate from high school by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year and enroll in a Florida-based college, university, or technical school by the year’s conclusion. Preference will be given to students pursuing degrees in STEM-related fields, especially those aligned with the energy industry, such as engineering, computer science, or environmental studies.

Applicants must reside in SECO Energy’s service area or have a parent or guardian who is an active SECO Energy member. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on factors including financial need, academic performance, community involvement, and their personal essay.
