OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Appleton Museum of Art at the College of Central Florida will present an extraordinary exhibition of architectural photography by Joel Bustamante. Titled “Framing Tokyo: Joel Bustamante’s Architectural Photography”, the exhibit will run from January 18 through June 8, 2025, in the Balcony Gallery for Florida Artists.

The exhibition features 30 black-and-white and color photographs by Bustamante, a Venezuelan-born artist renowned for his keen eye for architectural detail. Born in 1949, Bustamante received an international education, earning a degree from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale while working in the photography department. After operating an advertising agency in Caracas for a decade, he pursued a master’s degree in architectural photography at Nihon University in Tokyo.

The photographs on display highlight Japan’s modern architecture during the transformative decades of the 1970s and 1980s, culminating in the remarkable structures designed for the 1985 World’s Fair in Tsukuba Science City.

Regular museum admission fees apply to visit the exhibition. However, visitors can enjoy free entry on the first Saturday of each month through the museum’s Free First Saturday program, supported by CAMPUS USA Credit Union, Marion Cultural Alliance, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
