MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) has announced the launch of its inaugural First Responder Academy, offering high school students a unique opportunity to jumpstart their firefighting careers. The program, designed for the graduating class of 2026, combines classroom instruction, hands-on training, and a direct pathway to employment.

The academy will introduce students to the Firefighter I curriculum through evening classes on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as alternating Saturday sessions during their senior year. Upon successful completion of the program and graduation, participants will be hired as Firefighter Trainees with MCFR.

As Firefighter Trainees, participants will attend the Florida State Fire College to complete Firefighter II and EMT training. MCFR will cover all associated training costs, and trainees will receive a salary while attending the college.

The First Responder Academy aims to attract motivated students eager to serve their community while building a rewarding career in emergency services.
