ALACHUA, FL (352today) – Two teens were stopped on the interstate early Thursday morning after they reportedly stole their mother’s car and took it for a long drive.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), a 10-year-old and 11-year-old brother and sister from North Port allegedly stole their mother’s car. Deputies say around 4 a.m., they located the car traveling on Interstate 75 in Alachua. This led deputies to conduct a ‘high risk’ traffic stop.

During the stop, they discovered a 10-year-old male driving the white car with his sister in the car.

The two siblings had been reported missing to the North Port Police Department.

According to deputies, the mother drove three hours to pick up both children and decided not to press charges.
