OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) has released the name of the pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Silver Springs Blvd.
Officials say a 2013 white Ford SUV was traveling eastbound in the outside lane when it struck 62-year-old Vernon Warren.
According to OPD, Warren was crossing the road from Ghost Carwash and was headed south. They say Warren was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection when he was hit.
Officials responded to the accident in the 1900 block of W. Silver Springs Blvd. at 7:09 p.m. on Monday, where they pronounced Warren dead at the scene.

In a written statement, OPD says, “Our condolences go out to Warren’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Officials say the crash is still under investigation.
