OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) has confirmed that NW 10th St. is now open near the intersection of NW Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. following a fatal wreck earlier this morning.


Updated at 10:45 a.m.: A fatal crash occurred this morning on NW 10th St. near the intersection of NW Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., claiming the life of a 32-year-old man.

According to the Ocala Police Department (OPD), the driver was traveling eastbound in a Toyota Corolla on NW 10th St. when he failed to stop at a red light at NW Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. OPD noted that the vehicle appeared to be moving at normal traffic speed.

The driver was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, OPD confirmed. All lanes remain blocked as the investigation continues.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. We want to remind all drivers to follow speed limits and remain attentive while driving to help ensure everyone’s safety,” OPD shared in a statement on Facebook.


Originally posted at 9:39 a.m.: An early morning accident on NW 10th St. is temporarily blocking traffic for drivers moving eastbound.

The Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) and Ocala Police Department (OPD) are currently on the scene of a crash involving two vehicles.

According to OPD, the crash occurred at the intersection of NW 10th St. and NW Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.

OPD says one person has been trauma alerted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities are asking drivers to seek alternate routes until the road clears up.
