OCALA, FL (352today.com)—The City of Ocala announces that it is accepting applications for this year’s Ocala Future Leaders Academy.
The city describes the academy as a summer youth employment program providing on-the-job training and professional development for young adults who wish to pursue future careers within the organization.
The program is open to City of Ocala residents ages 16-19 who are currently enrolled in a Marion County high school.
The city says it will pick 25 participants for this year’s program and highlights four main reasons you or your child should apply, starting with professional development. Participants will learn the ins and outs of personal and professional growth, financial literacy, and technical job skills.

Each of the 25 participants will be paired with a mentor who will guide them through job assignments, improve their interpersonal skills, and build confidence.
The city will provide transportation assistance; each participant will obtain a SunTrain bus pass that is valid for the duration of the program.
Last, but certainly not least, participants will work 20-25 hours per week at an hourly rate of $16.06.
Employment will take place from June 9 to August 1. In May, the city will interview qualified applicants via Zoom and notify participants later that month if they are selected.
Applications can be submitted online through the City of Ocala’s website.
The deadline for this application is April 11 by 5 p.m.
Contact the City of Ocala’s Human Resources Department at 352-629-8359 for more information.
