OCALA, FL (352today.com) — The College of Central Florida (CF) Patriots softball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader against Santa Fe College on Tuesday afternoon at home.

In Game 1, the Patriots jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the first inning. Gabrielle Rascher drove in a run with a single, and Amber Daugherty added another with a sacrifice fly. However, the Saints answered with a three-run second inning, highlighted by a home run from Sarah Stewart, and never looked back.

CF starter Morgyn Stevens struggled against the Santa Fe lineup, allowing nine runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings. She struck out two and walked four.

Game 2 was a tighter contest. The Patriots once again got on the board early, taking a 3-0 lead in the first. Madison VanAllen delivered a two-run double, and Daugherty followed with a run-scoring fielder’s choice.

Santa Fe tied the game with two runs in the sixth, including a solo home run by Madi Conway and an RBI single from Olivia LaMeau. The game remained knotted at 3-3 until the ninth, when the Saints erupted for a six-run inning to secure the sweep.

VanAllen turned in a strong performance in the circle, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up three runs on eight hits. She struck out three and walked three. She also led the Patriots at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

With the losses, CF falls to 22-28 overall and 12-22 in Citrus Conference play.
