INVERNESS, FL (352today.com) – Every year, law enforcement across the country hosts community-building events on the first Tuesday of August: National Night Out (NNO). However, some communities, including Citrus County, celebrate on the first Tuesday of October instead. Tonight, Oct. 3, is that first Tuesday, and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is observing the campaign with an evening event in Inverness.
The Facebook event listing says the goal of the CCSO National Night Out is to promote police-community relationships. In addition to CCSO Specialty Team Demos, the event will also feature food, music, community partners from across Citrus County and more.
“Together, we are making communities safer, more caring places to live,” says the event flyer.
National Night Out will take place in the Inverness Depot District at 218 N. Apopka Ave. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
