MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a string of alleged violent incidents, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Charlie Daniels Jr. was arrested Wednesday afternoon by MCSO Intelligence Unit detectives on charges of fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting arrest without violence, and driving without a valid license. While in custody at the Marion County Jail on Thursday, Daniels was additionally charged with aggravated assault, shooting into a vehicle, discharging a firearm on residential property, and illegal firearm possession.

MCSO says the investigation began on April 28 when deputies responded to multiple calls about a dark Nissan Altima involved in a road rage incident in the Reddick area. According to witnesses, Daniels sped past another driver, sparking a verbal altercation. A bystander who recognized Daniels attempted to intervene, but later reported being followed and threatened at gunpoint by him. Deputies say Daniels later called the victim, threatened violence, and fired a gunshot during the call.

Later that day, a separate shooting was reported in which Daniels allegedly shot at a vehicle belonging to the man involved in the earlier altercation.

On April 30, around 3 p.m., MCSO Detective Anthony Esquivel located Daniels’ vehicle in northwest Ocala. When Daniels fled again, a brief vehicle pursuit ended with a successful PIT maneuver. Daniels then ran across I-75, where he ultimately surrendered to Detective Kip Peterson without further incident.

Daniels remains held in the Marion County Jail without bond.
