OCALA, Fla. (352today.com) – A late-night crash shut down all northbound lanes of I-75 in Ocala on Wednesday, but no one was hurt, according to Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR).
The collision happened just before midnight, north of the SR 40 overpass. OFR says the crash involved a car hauler, a street sweeper, and two dump trucks that were part of an overnight roadway project. Several vehicles being transported by the hauler were thrown from the trailer, with one left hanging off the side.
All drivers and passengers were evaluated at the scene. OFR says there were no injuries.

Fire crews also found a large fuel tank near the crash site and initially believed it might be part of the wreck. OFR later confirmed the tank was already on-site for roadwork and had been leaking fuel before the crash.
Fuel stretched across about 100 feet of roadway, prompting concerns about environmental impact and cleanup. Florida Highway Patrol arrived to take over the scene, and traffic was rerouted at the SR 40 exit.
OFR says that the State Warning Point was notified about the fuel and oil spill, and the road remained closed until it was deemed safe.
