Detectives with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to a complaint of child sexual abuse.

LCSO says that the person who complained told deputies that 24-year-old Chiane Carter of Williston sexually abused a child under 12.

An investigation by LCSO uncovered evidence of this crime, leading to the arrest of Carter by detectives.

She is being charged with two counts of Child Sexual Battery and Lewd and Lascivious Battery.

She is held without bond in the Levy County Detention Center.

According to deputies, Carter is facing life in prison for her charges, pending an upcoming court date.

Detectives with LCSO arrested 43-year-old Clifton Spivey of Cedar Key in September of 2024.

Authorities say Spivey was charged with Capital Sexual Battery and Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a Child.

LCSO states that a grand jury indicted Spivey in February 2025. Prosecutors with the 8th Circuit State Attorney’s Office presented the evidence against Spivey at trial, and the jury returned a guilty verdict.

Spivey was sentenced to life in the Florida Department of Corrections on May 29, 2025.

“The safety and security of children who adults victimize holds an unparalleled importance to the law enforcement professionals of Levy County Sheriff’s Office,” states LCSO. “The Detectives assigned to the LCSO Criminal Investigation Division dedicate long hours to investigations of child sexual abuse. They will tirelessly pursue, arrest, and assist the State Attorney’s Office to ensure a successful prosecution of those who choose to prey on children.”
