MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – If you live near or plan to visit the Ocala National Forest this week, don’t be alarmed by loud booms — the U.S. Navy will be conducting inert bombing exercises at the Pinecastle Range Complex on June 3 and 4.
Here’s the training schedule:
- June 3: 10:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- June 4: 9:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
All training involves inert (non-explosive) bombs.
During these times, residents may hear loud noises or notice increased wildlife activity as animals temporarily flee the area. Officials urge drivers to use extra caution and secure items like trash or pet food that could attract black bears and other large animals. Visit BearWise for tips on living safely alongside Florida wildlife.
To report noise concerns, email the Navy at nasjax.noisecomplaints@us.navy.mil. For updates on the Ocala National Forest, visit National Forests in Florida on Facebook.
