OCALA, FL (352today.com) – If you could describe your ideal dog, you would probably use words like “loving, loyal, obedient, and smart.” That’s exactly what you’ll find in Bella, a 1-year-old mixed breed currently available for adoption at the Humane Society of Marion County (HSMC).
Bella has been at the shelter for about three months and has already won hearts with her gentle, calm demeaner and affectionate personality. She first spent time with Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) and has since been transferred to HSMC where she can meet different potential adopters. She’s completed basic obedience training and knows common commands – plus, she’s still young and eager to learn more.
Bella gets along well with other dogs. Though she can be a little shy with new people, she quickly warmed up during her visit to the North Central Florida Media office and was eager to bond with staff.
Like many dogs, Bella is a bit sensitive to loud noises such as shouts or fireworks. Wendy, an animal technician with MCAS, shared some helpful tips for keeping noise-sensitive pets calm during holidays like Independence Day. At the shelter, they keep the dogs active during the day to release nervous energy, then use fans and soothing music at night to muffle loud sounds and create a calm environment.

Adoption fees with MCAS are waived for the month of June, so now is the perfect time meet your perfect match, free of charge! Visit MCAS’s website to browse available animals or stop by the shelter at 5701 SE 66th Street in Ocala to find your new best friend in person. You can meet Bella by visiting HSMC’s shelter at 1705 NW 8th Avenue in Ocala.
