Clifford Shells faces multiple charges after deputies say he discharged a firearm illegally and was later found with multiple guns in his vehicle.
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — A man was arrested after accidentally discharging a firearm while illegally possessing it, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
MCSO says that Deputy Shyrock responded to the 3600 block of NE 41st Street following a report of a shooting. The investigation revealed that Clifford Shells had gone to the location to show off a handgun he had recently acquired. During the interaction, the firearm was accidentally discharged.
Shells, who is a convicted felon, is not allowed to possess firearms under Florida law. MCSO said he left the scene, but was later located by the Ocala Police Department along with his vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officers found multiple firearms.
Shells was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail.
