MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host an open house on Tuesday, July 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to share details and gather community feedback on proposed improvements to State Road 40 between U.S. 41 and SW 119th Avenue, west of Ocala.
The project aims to enhance safety and prolong the life of the roadway through resurfacing, shoulder widening, drainage upgrades, and curve realignment near SW 133rd Avenue. Plans also include pedestrian safety improvements like new sidewalks, crosswalks, ADA-compliant ramps, and updated lighting.
The in-person meeting will take place at St. Johns Church of Cotton Plant, 12390 C.R. 328 in Ocala. Attendees can speak with project team members, view displays, and ask questions.
An online webinar will also be offered at 5:30 p.m. the same day. Registration is required at bit.ly/43qEWcS. Additional project information is available at cflroads.com/project/452636-1. Public comments are encouraged by August 8.
FDOT encourages participation from all community members. Those needing ADA accommodations or translation services should contact the department at least seven days before the meeting.
