MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported a series of unrelated arrests over the past several days involving drug possession, driving under the influence, outstanding warrants, and assaults on law enforcement officers. Deputies from multiple units responded to calls across the county, leading to the arrest of five individuals now facing felony and misdemeanor charges.

Lauralie Daniels

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Seponski and Kennedy initiated a traffic stop in the 2600 block of SE 31st Street after observing a vehicle speeding. The driver, identified as Lauralie Daniels, was approached, and deputies reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search revealed Daniels was in possession of cocaine and a felony amount of marijuana. She was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Wendell Brown

MCSO stated that Deputy Welfenberg responded to a report of an unruly customer at the Dunnellon Coffee Company on North Williams Street. The suspect, identified as Wendell Brown, had three active warrants for retail theft. Brown fled before deputies arrived but was later located at his home. While being detained, he allegedly battered both Deputy Welfenberg and Detective Haufler. Following a successful taser deployment, Brown was taken into custody and transported to jail.

Jeanne Gibson

Deputy Wyman was dispatched to the intersection of SE 44th Avenue Road and SE 44th Street in reference to a woman asleep in her vehicle on the roadside, according to MCSO. Upon making contact with the driver, Jeanne Gibson, the deputy observed signs of impairment. After conducting Field Sobriety Exercises, Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence. She was transported to the Marion County Jail, where she reportedly refused to provide a breath sample.

Christopher Obregon

Deputies responded to the 12300 block of SE 88th Court to conduct a warrant check, MCSO reported. Upon arrival, they located Christopher Obregon, who had an active warrant for Aggravated Battery. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Jack Grimsley

According to MCSO, Deputy Brickman was dispatched to the 13400 block of SE 32nd Court after a report of an intoxicated person passed out in a vehicle. The deputy found Jack Grimsley seated in a running truck in a driveway. Grimsley appeared visibly impaired and handed over random items instead of his driver’s license when asked. He was too impaired to complete Field Sobriety Exercises and was arrested for DUI. At the jail, Grimsley provided a breath sample of .415, more than five times the legal limit. Due to the high blood alcohol content, he was medically cleared at a local hospital before being booked into jail.
