OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A resolution regarding an agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Ocala for the public transit block grant program will be voted on at the Ocala City Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025.
There will also be a budget resolution to amend the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget to accept and appropriate $796,934 in public transportation grant amendment funds from the FDOT, and $808,934 in local matching funds to support the Ocala/Marion County Public Transporation System, SunTran, for a total amount of $1,605,868. The estimated cost of the project was $1,593,868.
The agreement provides state transit block grant operating funds up to 50% to the City of Ocala in Marion County for operational expenses associated with the SunTran in the urbanized area of Ocala.

The project provides public bus transit services to people in the urbanized area within Ocala, performed in accordance with the requirements of the state public transit block grant procedure and the provisions of the agreement.
The agency will provide approximately but not limited to 18,350,773 trips per year or until all funds are expended.
