OCALA, FL (352today,com) – The Ocala Police Department has concluded its investigation into the tragic crash that occurred on Oct. 27, 2025, involving 18-year-old Forest High School senior Shannon Rushing.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Northwest Old Blitchton Road near NW Seventh Street. Our investigation determined that Shannon was walking in the middle of the roadway, wearing headphones, and heading to her school bus stop when she was struck by an eastbound Nissan Rogue. At the time of the crash, the weather conditions were cloudy and dark.

The 60-year-old female driver of the vehicle fully cooperated with investigators. Based on a thorough investigation, it was determined that no criminal violations were committed by the driver, and speed was not a factor in the incident.
