OCALA, Fl (352today.com) – Three pickup trucks were involved in an early morning accident on Dec. 22, 2025, leaving a 25-year-old Ocala motorist dead and a 63-year-old Williston man seriously injured.

A pickup truck was traveling eastbound on U.S. Hwy 27, with another pickup truck traveling in the same direction on U.S. 27, but ahead of the other pickup truck. The truck that was behind the other pickup truck, approached the rear of the other pickup truck that was in front of it and was traveling at a slower rate of speed, with the pickup who was behind the other vehicle not decreasing its rate of speed, striking the left rear of the pickup truck in front of it, with its right front section, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at 2: 22 a.m.

After the collision, both vehicles rotated clockwise to the right, with the pickup truck that struck the pickup in front of it, overturning, ejecting the driver, who came to rest within the eastbound right lane of U.S. 27. Moments after the incident occurred, a third pickup truck that was also traveling eastbound on U.S. 27, struck the ejected driver who was laying in the roadway. The driver of the third pickup truck pulled over immediately after striking the driver who had been ejected, according to authorities.

The deceased driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while the drivers of the other two vehicles were.

The two pickup trucks who had been involved in the collision came to rest on the south grass shoulder near the tree line. Marion County Fire and Rescue pronounced the driver who had been ejected from their vehicle dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, whose vehicle was struck by the pickup truck of the deceased driver, was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the third pickup truck didn’t sustain any injuries.

The eastbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 27 were shut down after the incident, so a traffic homicide investigation could be conducted, with the roadway reopening at 7 a.m.
