OCALA, FL (352today.com) – On Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Internet Crimes Against Children Detective Henrik Osthed arrested 19-year-old David Rutter (W/M, DOB: 08/22/2005) for four counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Rutter was arrested while out on bond following his arrest by the Ocala Police Department (OPD) for 20 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
On November 6, 2025, Detective Osthed began investigating an internet user in Marion County who participated in the distribution of 257 files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Many of the files involved sadomasochistic sexual abuse of children as young as infants, and some involved animals. Through further investigation and receiving information from subpoenas, Detective Osthed determined that David Rutter was the individual who uploaded the files. He also learned that Rutter was arrested by OPD in July 2025 after uploading 27 files of CSAM from a similar IP address.
On January 15, 2026, MCSO detectives and SWAT Team executed a search warrant at Rutter’s home, located at 6400 SW 111th Street, in Ocala. During an interview with detectives, Rutter admitted to accessing the dark web, utilizing the accounts discovered during the investigation, and sharing CSAM online. Rutter’s electronic devices were collected for digital forensic examination, including one he had hidden inside a bag of cat food, upon seeing the SWAT Team arrive. An initial review of Rutter’s primary device revealed that he had dozens of images of child erotica and four videos of child celebrities containing CSAM, which he created with artificial intelligence (AI). Detectives also observed other AI-generated videos of early pubescent girls and a significant number of printed pictures of clothed children and babies in Rutter’s bedroom.
Rutter was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he remains without bond.
Due to the nature of these offenses, the vast amount of material located, and Rutter committing the exploitative crimes while on bond for similar charges, detectives believe he may have live victims. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Detective Osthed at (352) 351-4710.
