ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Alachua County Animal Resources (ACAR) reminds you to purchase a license tag for your pets and, to make it easy, you can do it online.

ACAR encourages all owners to purchase a license each year for their pets to help prevent a lot of trouble in the future including owner identification by animal resource officers and shelters when a pet is lost.

“Required pet licensing is easier than ever,” said Alachua County Animal Resources Director Julie Johnson. “Your lost pet’s current license could be their ticket home.”

You can purchase licenses here for cats, dogs, and ferrets for $25. You can license all of your pets simultaneously and upload their documents. Licenses will remain valid for one year, starting from the date of your pet’s rabies vaccination. If your cat, dog, or ferret is four months or older, they must be licensed within 30 days of being in the county.

If you choose to purchase online, you will be charged a $2 fee for each transaction. PetData, the only company in the United States whose sole focus is pet licensing, accepts all major credit cards.

You can also obtain a license by mailing a copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination along with a check payable to Alachua County Animal Resources Licensing in care of PetData, PO Box 141929, Irving, TX 75014.
