HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 13-month-old boy was pronounced dead after a drowning incident in a decorative pond at a home in Hernando County.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says they along with the Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews responded to a home around 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, on Powell Road in Brooksville after receiving a 911 call.
Deputies say the caller told them that a 13-month-old child fell into the pond and was unconscious. The sheriff’s office says members of the family were giving the toddler CPR.
When deputies arrived, they continued performing CPR on the child until HCFR crews arrived.
The child was eventually airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Around 6 p.m., detectives say they were informed that the child died.
“Preliminary investigation reveals no signs of foul play. The incident appears to have been a tragic accident,” said the sheriff’s office.
