OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Muddy Lotus Tea Kava Bar is a hidden gem in Ocala, located at 520 NE 1st Ave., Ocala, tucked just across the street from Union Station Plaza. This tea bar opened in 2018 after massive renovations on the 100-year-old building. Now, it stands as a social hub with a unique look featuring an artistic theme with handcrafted coffees and teas.
At night, the room shifts into a dark atmosphere with neon lights lighting up the room. Along with its design, the bar provides an alcohol-free experience for adults for those who want a fun night out with delectable teas and coffees.
Drinks at the Muddy Lotus are non-GMO, gluten-free and feature some organic options. Some of the teas they offer include the botanical tea, blue lotus tea, matcha, sweet tea, herbal tea, loose leaf tea in eight flavors and the Muddy Lotus tea blend. They also offer multiple kava and coconut milk drink mixes. Coffees they offer include their “bulletproof” coffees, hazelnut coffee, nitrogen cold brew coffee and more. They also offer kombucha as another strong, healthy option.
They also feature a variety of events throughout the week including recurring karaoke nights as a part of series where guests can sing for a chance to be the “Drop the Mic” contest. Other events they feature included game nights, an “Act Out,” fire tricks, comedy and much more. These events also feature special deals on drinks for the evening and prizes for winners.
The interior of the tea bar features a vibrant atmosphere with multiple neon lights. Artwork decorates the walls with multiple pieces by Drake Arnold, whose artwork is featured on the interior and exterior. They also feature three seating areas with two near the front and one toward the back. Guests can sit on comfortable couches or near the bar for a cozy drinking experience. The Muddy Lotus features a variety of customers local to Marion County. Ryan Oliver shared that following his move from Minneapolis to Florida, he found the Muddy Lotus; he detailed that the Muddy Lotus contributed to the ease of his move due to the sense of community and connection he found.
Whether enjoying an evening out with friends or stopping by for a quick sip, the Muddy Lotus Tea Kava Bar has it all. They are open Monday-Thursday from 4-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m.-midnight and Sunday from 2-10 p.m. The kava bar is only open to 18 years and older after 9 p.m. for adults to experience a child-free night out.
