MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – One person is dead and another was seriously injured following a crash involving multiple vehicles on northbound I-75 in Marion County on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:35 a.m. near mile marker 356, about two miles north of U.S. 27.
Troopers say a pickup truck traveling northbound in the left lane made an improper lane change into the center lane, colliding with a tractor-trailer. The impact caused the pickup to rotate and enter the right lane, where it was struck by a second tractor-trailer.
The pickup was then pushed onto the right shoulder, where it came to a final rest.
Authorities say the passenger in the pickup, a 59-year-old man from Monroe, Georgia, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, a 38-year-old man also from Monroe, Georgia, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, according to FHP.
The drivers of both tractor-trailers, a 63-year-old man from Bowling Green, Florida, and a 27-year-old woman from Jacksonville, were not injured.
Investigators say it is still unclear who was driving the pickup at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
