GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Basketball season is underway and the Gators men’s basketball team is off to a great start.

Florida hosted Loyola Maryland at home to open up the season on Monday, Nov. 6, coming out with a 20-point win over the Greyhounds defeating them 93-73.

The Gators now prepare to face Virginia in Charlotte as part of the Hall of Fame series.

The Cavaliers are also coming off a strong, 30-point win over the Tarleton State.

Gators head coach Todd Golden knows that the Cavaliers can bring some challenges.

“They do a really good job of covering each other up, all five guys offensively are connected. They make it hard to get in the paint,” said Golden in a news conference Thursday. “This team will be really disciplined, and we have to do a really good job executing if we want to have a good chance to score on these guys.”

The last time the two faced off was in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Florida came out on top with a 65-39 win over Virginia. The Gators lead the all-time series 2-1.

They’ll be looking to advance that record to 3-1. If you’d like to tune into the game, you can watch it on the ACC Network or streamed online.

Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
