LADY LAKE, FL (352today.com) – A Saturday night traffic stop in Lady Lake proved to be anything but ordinary when officers pulled over a speeding trike rider dressed in a bright pink business suit.
According to the Lady Lake Police Department, officers stopped 58-year-old John Benz at approximately 9:16 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, near U.S. HWY 441 and Main Street after observing him traveling 60 mph in a 45-mph zone.
While the driver’s eye-catching attire may have made him easy to spot, officers quickly discovered the real issues involved his driving record and vehicle registration. Benz readily admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license. Police said his license had been indefinitely suspended for failing to pay traffic fines. Records also indicated Benz had previously entered eight guilty pleas for driving without a license. When questioned about the suspension, Benz offered a candid explanation.
“My license was revoked. Why pay a fine if I’m not going to get my license back?”
Police also determined the three-wheeled motorcycle was not registered.
Benz was arrested without incident and charged with driving while license suspended and operating an unregistered vehicle. Body camera footage of the encounter was released by the Lady Lake Police Department.
