WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – Wildwood city officials have scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, to gather feedback from the public on potential redevelopment of the former Martin Theatre on Main Street.
Representatives from the city’s consulting architect, GatorSktch Corporation of Clermont, will be on hand with exhibits and information about a concept under consideration. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
“GatorSktch has provided us with great insight,” said City Manager Jason McHugh. “Their experience with the Valorie Theatre restoration in Inverness and with many other relevant projects has been invaluable. They have really taken the time to better understand our city, our community, our needs, and our growth, and we’re excited to share their ideas with the public.”
The Martin Theatre is thought to have opened in 1949 at 206 N. Main St., next to the current City Hall and across from the city’s Downtown Parking Garage. After many years as a cinema, the building was sold and operated most recently as a church. It sat vacant before being offered for sale again, when the City of Wildwood purchased it in March 2024 for $805,000.
“The commission recognized Wildwood’s growing need for additional municipal space,” McHugh said. “They wanted to explore the building’s potential to accommodate the city’s needs while serving the community in a meaningful way that honors its past, its present, and its future. We think our consultant has threaded that needle, but we want to know what the public thinks.”
The informational meeting will be held at City Hall, 100 N. Main St., and will run from 5 to 7 p.m. All are encouraged to attend and provide feedback.
