OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Roller derby’s trendiness may wax and wane in the pop cultural consciousness, but that doesn’t matter to the ladies of Ocala Roller Derby, the nonprofit women’s derby league that’s been getting physical for fun, camaraderie, fundraising and fitness since 2010.

To the uninitiated, roller derby can seem like a brutal free-for-all, but it’s actually a very healthy way for women to come together and find strength in teamwork, community and athleticism.

This Sunday, June 28, 2026, the league invites the public to come out to the Ocala Downtown Market and find out more about this worthwhile sporting endeavor. The Brick City Bash runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will feature around 40 local vendors, as well as league sponsors, information about the team, some exhibition action and more.

Founded as the Ocala Cannibals more than a decade and a half ago, Ocala Roller Derby has kept the fires burning for an avocation that’s gone a bit underground since its Florida heyday, when teams and leagues across the Sunshine State formed a large, often colorfully tattooed network that made national headlines. But these ladies–and others like them across the country–are still strapping on the skates as new generations discover the catharsis and collectivism inherent in roller derby.

The league is always looking for supportive sponsors, as well, and interested organizations can find out more on Sunday.

This event is free and open to the public. Ocala Downtown Market is located at 403 SE Osceola Ave.
