SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A stabbing in Wildwood on Saturday evening has turned deadly.
On Sunday afternoon, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) posted a video on Facebook releasing more information about the crime that took place at a home at 6611 County Road 148 just after 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Undersheriff Pat Breeden says 16-year-old Alexander Hernandez went to the home, banged on the door and when a 15-year-old boy answered the door, deputies say Hernandez forced his way into the home and stabbed him.
Moments later, an adult came to check on the commotion and also got stabbed in the process, according to authorities.
SCSO says the 15-year-old victim was pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m. on Sunday. The adult victim is 48 years old and is in the intensive care unit at a hospital.
Breeden showed images of the weapons they say Hernandez used in the attack. One appears to be a folding tactical knife and the other resembles a sickle.
“This was no doubt a premeditated and targeted attack,” said Breeden.
They say Hernandez purchased the weapons on the internet last Thursday, played with them for a bit when they arrived on Saturday and then walked nearly six miles to the home and carried out the attack.

SCSO says Hernandez took off and they found him later with help from the agency’s helicopter and transported him to the jail. Breeden says Hernandez was in possession of the weapons when they located him.
Deputies have charged Hernandez with:
- premeditated first-degree murder
- aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill
- armed burglary

Authorities say more charges could be forthcoming.
“The exact motive for the attack is yet to be determined,” said Breeden. “One thing is for certain, this was a violent and premeditated attack.”
Breeden says Hernandez and the victim knew each other. The sheriff’s office says both teens had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were being home schooled.
