OCALA, FL. (352 Today) On September 11, communities across Ocala and Marion County will come together to remember the lives lost during the 2001 terrorist attacks and to honor the courage of first responders. This year’s events include memorial ceremonies, volunteer efforts, educational programs, and community walks that provide opportunities for reflection, gratitude, and unity.
1. Wind-FM & K‑Country Join Feeding the Fearless
Local radio favorites Wind‑FM and K‑Country are partnering with Mojos Grill & Catering Co. to deliver meals to Marion County’s first responders on Sept. 11. Volunteers from the Mr. Bob Morning Show (K‑Country) and Hunter & Dupree Morning Show (Wind‑FM) will personally hand off meals to fire, EMS, and law enforcement teams. 2. Marion County Firefighters & OcalaBets Back Embers of Hope
The Professional Fire Fighters of Marion County (PFFMC) are partnering with local poker room OcalaBets to raise funds for Embers of Hope, a new summer camp designed for children recovering from burn injuries. A public poker tournament will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, beginning at 11 a.m., with proceeds supporting the camp’s mission to provide healing, connection, and fun in a safe environment. 3. Freedom Walk in Belleview
The City of Belleview will host its annual Freedom Walk on Sept. 11 from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 5615 SE 110th Place, Belleview, FL. The event invites residents of all ages to walk in remembrance of the lives lost on 9/11 and to show appreciation for first responders and military service members. 4. 9/11 Digital Learning “Stories of Impact and Resilience”
Residents looking for a reflective and informative experience can attend a special 9/11 educational screening on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Live Oak Hall, located at 8415 SW 80th St. The 30-minute film shares firsthand stories from survivors, first responders, and families affected by the attacks. 5. Ocala Citizens Firefighter’s Association Hosts 9/11 Memorial Ceremony
The Ocala Citizen’s Firefighter’s Association (O.C.F.F.A.) will host its annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at 505 Lovers Lane in Ocala. This solemn event honors those lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks and pays tribute to first responders locally and across the nation. The public is invited to attend and participate in an evening of remembrance and reflection.
