OCALA, FL (352today.com) – With the extreme heat of summer still making life miserable, many of us are longing for the milder temperatures of fall. Rather than roast outside this weekend, North Central Florida Media (NCFM) invites you to experience all things associated with the great outdoors in the comfort of the air conditioned indoors.
Save the date to the calendar on your phone. The 6th Annual North Central Florida Outdoor Expo is this Saturday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Expo Center 2 at the World Equestrian Center (WEC).
Whether you’re an avid outdoorsman or looking for a family-friendly event, this expo has something for everyone.

Presale tickets are now available for just $5. If you purchase them at the door, tickets are $10 cash only. Kids aged 17 and under get in FREE.
This year’s expo features a variety of vendors and activities, all in the comfort of air-conditioning. So, you can enjoy exploring the latest gear and accessories without worrying about the discomfort of the sweltering heat. The outdoor show is entirely indoors.
How it all began
When the event began six years ago, it was held at the 11,000 square foot Southeastern Livestock Pavilion in Ocala. While the venue is under a covered roof, the heat and humidity made it uncomfortable for everyone involved.
“By 2020, the event outgrew the Livestock Pavilion and relocated to a 130,000 square foot facility at the new World Equestrian Center,” NCFM President/General Manager Howard Tuuri explained. “Plus, it’s air conditioned, making the event more enjoyable for all considering August temperatures in Ocala. Attendance and exhibitors have grown dramatically with 7,000 attendees enjoying over 170 exhibitors and interactive activities last year.”

NCFM Sales Manager Lisa Varner echoes Tuuri adding that “moving the event from the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion has been a great upgrade.” She says the timing of the event is intentional with gator hunting season opening this week and the archery deer hunting season just around the corner in North Central Florida.
Varner adds that she is constantly looking for organizations and businesses related to the outdoors to add to the event.
“I’m excited to see the event grow and attract a large number of attendees,” Varner shared. “I try really hard to lay out the vendor displays in a way that makes sense for the attendees, so everyone enjoys the experience.”
What can you expect?
Explore a diverse range of exhibitors showcasing the latest and greatest in outdoor gear. Whether you’re into camping, fishing, hiking, or any other outdoor activity, you’ll find high-quality equipment that will take your adventures to the next level.
Family-friendly activities
There will be plenty for the kids to enjoy – both younger and older – with various interactive activities including a virtual fishing tournament and 3D archery. It’s the perfect way to introduce the younger generation to the joys of the great outdoors.

“What I love about the Outdoor Expo is it gives local organizations the space to show our North Central Florida families what they have to offer with hands-on activities,” said NCFM Director of Digital Whitney Zarder, who is also a mom to a middle schooler. “The event goes beyond the typical information pamphlet and gives kids of all ages something to do, feel, or explore. 3-D archery, reptile encounters, inflatable BB gun range, even competing in a virtual fishing tournament; these are all activities that kids really get excited about.”
Zarder adds that with representation of many clubs and organizations, the event is a great place to learn about Florida’s natural wonders and how best to explore them.
