OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Marion County, claiming the life of an 85-year-old woman.

According to troopers, the victim, a Marion County resident, was traveling west on Southwest 73rd Street Road. She stopped at a stop sign before attempting to make a left turn onto State Road 200.

At the same time, another vehicle was traveling north in the middle lane of State Road 200, approaching the intersection. The two vehicles collided when the victim’s car turned into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to HCA Ocala Regional Medical Center. The 85-year-old woman, who was confirmed to have been wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

FHP is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash to determine its cause. No additional details about the other driver’s condition or identity have been released at this time.
